Tulsa Wedding Photographers Perspective: The Importance of Visualizing Success

As a general rule, most adults struggle with the concept of visualization or the even comprehending while it matters. Yet in most successful people in business and sports say that visualization is a huge part of their success.

  • “I used a lot of visualization in terms of who I would be guarding and who would be guarding me. When I was walking down the street for, say, lunch, I’d imagine those individuals in front of me. I’d imagine going around them.” – Isaiah Thomas (Hall of Fame Basketball Playe)
  • “Nimble thought can jump both sea and land.” – William Shakespeare (Legendary Writer)
  • “I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp, in-focus picture of it in my head. First I see the ball where I want it to finish, nice and white and sitting up high on the bright green grass. Then the scene quickly changes, and I see the ball going there; its path, trajectory, and shape, even its behavior on landing. Then there is a sort of fade-out, and the next scene shows me making the kind of swing that will turn the previous images into reality.” -  Jack Nicklaus (Hall of Fame Golfer)

Most people will read these quotes and simply say to themselves, “Oh course these people visualize success, because they are successful.” However, the success cannot and does not begin to happen until the person can actually first visualize success in their own mind’s eye. The person must know what success looks like, smells like and feels like if they are going to experience ultimate success. So what does all of this have to do with you and wedding photography?

At Epic Photography we spend hours and hours showcasing our best wedding photos to our photographers so that they can see what truly “epic” wedding photography looks like. We look at the award-winning work in our industry and we ask our people, “why?” “Why is this good photography?” We should them bad photography and we ask them again, “Why is this bad wedding photography?” We believe that burning images of “great wedding photography” into the mind’s eye of our photographers has played a critical role in our overall success.
