A Tulsa Wedding Photographers Journal – Many of the girls that we work often ask us about how they can “look like the girls in the magazines.” All the girls read “The Knot.com Magazines” and they all read “Modern Bride,” thus they want to look like the brides that are in these magazines. They tell us that most of the other photographers they have asked don’t know how to make them look this way either. Thus, when the come to us, they are looking for some direction and guidance here. They are looking for us to show to them what to do in a very clear and direct way. They want someone to show them the way and they want someone to just “make it happen.” To help point the way and to help lead the way here for as many girls as possible we have put together the following 3 tips for girls who are wanting to have the very best “fashion bridals” possible.
Tip #1 – Work with a makeup artist. Every single girl that you have ever seen on the cover of these magazines has the benefit of working with a professional makeup artist. None of these girls naturally have perfect skin and you won’t have perfect skin either. Don’t feel bad about it, don’t feel self conscious about it, just hire a makeup artist. Tip #2 – Watch videos on youtube about how to pose. Most girls have never posed before. Posing is a learned skill like anything else. Unless you have done it before it is insane for anyone to think that you should know how to just “naturally” do it correctly. One of the biggest issues we have with many photography companies is this belief that brides want them to be 100% photojournalistic. Most brides tell us that they want candid shots and reactions. They want photos that tell a story. However, they also want to looking “amazing” in their wedding dress. A photographer should be able to guide you through the posing process in a way that does not make you feel awkward. If you do feel awkward, that is not good and that is a good sign that you might not be working with the right Tulsa wedding photographers.
Tip #3 – Incorporate your personality into the bridal session. If you met in a unique location, consider having your bridals take there. If you are funny, be fun during your shoot. If you are serious be serious in your shoot. If you want to look sexy for the first time in your life, then you have to let the photographer know and we will make it happen.
