Tulsa Wedding Photographers - How To Avoid the Stress of the “Big Day”
After 6 months of planning, you do not want to be stressed on the day of your wedding. Because we work with thousands of clients per year, we get to observe more weddings than almost anyone. Unfortunately, we often discover that well over half of the clients are severely stressed out on the day of their wedding. In an attempt to help the day of your wedding to go on without a hitch, we have put together the following 3 tips to help you avoid the stress so that you can look and feel your best.
Tip #1 – Make sure you select one person to be in charge of your big day – The couples that take the time to select one person to be in charge of “quarterbacking” their big day are the most happy. Whether it’s your mom’s friend, your wedding dj or your wedding photographer, someone must be put in charge. As a wedding photographers, we are often forced to direct the entire event because no one else has been assigned to do so. When do people walk in? Who is escorting who? Where do the decorations go? These are all questions people ask on the day of weddings and you want to make sure that you have someone who is assigned to answer all of these questions.
Tip #2 – Only use services that include unlimited time in their packages (excluding venues) – No one wants to feel like they are being rushed. Nobody wants to go out to eat, and to be told that they must finish the meal in 37 minutes or they will be kicked out. No one wants to shop and to be told that they must leave in 1 hour. However on the biggest day of many people’s lives they are told by their vendors that they must hurry up. Brides and grooms all throughout Tulsa are told that they must hurry up, because their vendor “has to leave in 4 hours.” This is nuts and the stress it causes is simply not worth it. Pay the extra money and avoid the stress. You deserve the best experience. Your videographers, DJs, and photographers should all be committed to wowing you. They should all be seeking to over-deliver, instead of attempting to just do enough.
Tip #3 – Take the time to build a master timeline for the big day. Every event needs a structure or chaos will insue. I’m sure you’ve been to a little kid’s birthday where their was a pony, cheese cubes, crackers and nothing to do. It doesn’t matter how awesome you are, or how great the food is, people will not stick around for 4 hours if their is no proactivity in the schedule of events. People want to know what is going on and when it is going on. People want to celebrate with you. However, people do not want to wait forever on something that might not ever happen. Take the time to work with your wedding photographer or wedding entertainment to build a timeline that makes sense.
